Kasargod: On Wednesday, April 28, the Income Tax Department office at Vidyanagar will go a step closer to nature.

In a laudable move, the office has been transformed into fully solar-powered structure and the same will be inaugurated on Wednesday by IT Chief Commissioner P R Ravi Kumar in presence of Pranabh Kumar Das, P N Devadasan, A Mohan, and A Muralidharan among others.
At a juncture of time when most of the regions are reeling under acute power shortage, the IT office here has shown the way to go solar-powered by generating its own power for consumption.
The surplus of the electricity generated will be sold to the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB). It is said that the IT department will hence not pay the KSEB bills from April onwards.
The same model will be emulated in IT offices in Kannur and Kasargod as well.
The solar power unit installed here can generate 57 units of power every day. The office may require about 40 to 45 units every day, with which the centre would be able to provide about 12 units to KSEB.
