Moodbidri :District BJP Vice President Umanath Kotian  has urged the government to invoke Goonda Act on state minister Abhayachandra Jain for exhibiting goondaism by threatening a journalist.

Addressing a huge protest meeting organised by the BJP Yuva Morcha at Moodbidri on Saturday May 3, he while alleging that the Congress Government has so far invoked the act on over 300 youth of the district for no reason, demanded that the Act be invoked on Jain too.

He said the minister has threatened the journalist solely for reporting on Niddodi thermal power project and its latest developments. If the minister had any objection, he could have done so, but it was not right to threaten, Kotian said and added the incident has only given room for suspicion.

He also questioned the hesitation on the part of the police to file an FIR against the minister and warned that the BJP would lodge a private petition in case the police fail to lodge FIR.
