Inagural of all the PG Programmes at St Aloysius College

Mangalore: The inaugural of the Post Graduate courses at St Aloysius College, Mangalore began with the lighting of the lamp by Fr. Denzil Lobo SJ, the Rector, Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, the Principal, Fr Francis D’ Almeida SJ, the Vice Principal of the P G Department, Prof Narahahari, the Registrar, Prof Lourdu sami, the Dean of the P G Department and other vice-principals, Head of the Departments of the institutions and the students representatives.

The Programme began with prayer by reading the Holy Scriptures from Bhagawadgeetha, Bible and Quran. Fr Francis D’ Almeida welcomed the gathering. Fr Denzil Lobo, The Rector delivered the key-note address speaking to the students, “the importance and effect of Jesuit Education that is felt all over the world and specially in India.
 
The Jesuits have been contributing in building effective leaders in our country like the President APJ Abdul Kalam who studied in St Joseph’s  College at Tiruchi.
 
The Rector also spoke about swami Vivekananda who gave utmost importance to education realizing that only through Education we can build a better society. He quoted Swami Vivekanada saying, “Education is not just filling the mind with knowledge which runs riot, It should be man making, character building and assimilation of ideas”.

Then he told the students about the 3D Formula which brought success in the life of Anil Kumble, the former captain of Indian Cricket team. That is, we should have Discipline, Dedication and Determination in life to be successful leaders in our country.

The principal, Fr Swebert D’Silva stressed on the importance of values in ones life to be good citizen in the society. He also congratulated the students for choosing to further their education with higher studies.

He expressed his concern that in todays society that the Students have lost the sense of what is good and what is not good. And he said that students must have the guts to choose good always in life to be effective leaders in the society.

Prof Narahahari, the registrar explained to the students what autonomy means and the relevance of it. He told the students that the college is making the education more practicle and effective by conducting the internal tests.

A fifteen minutes Vedio Documentory about the history of St Aloysius Institutions prepared by the Mass Communications students was screened to the students. Finally, Prof Lourdu sami, explained to the students the rules and regulations of the college that are to be followed by the students.
