Mangalore : The driver of an MCC official was attacked by a gang of four men at Ladyhill on July 20, Saturday morning. It is believed that the gang intended to kill the driver. A property dispute is learnt to be the cause of the attack.
According to sources, the four who came by bikes intercepted Rohit Hoigebail (30) near Ladyhill, when he was on way to pick the MCC official. They then attacked him with sharp weapons but had to flee when a large crowd gathered at the place. But efforts to trap them went in vain.
Rohit who suffered injuries in his neck and hands was immediately shifted to a hospital at Mannagudda. It has been gathered that a property dispute in the family had led to the attack and Rohit has identified one of the attackers as Shailesh. It is suspected that people who wanted to target Rohit had sought the help of Shailesh who already has a criminal record, to execute the act.
