Moodbidri: The forest department officials seized a truck illegally transporting logwood at Sampige that comes under the limits of Puttige gram panchayat, near here on Wednesday September 18 and also arrested a person in this regard.

The arrested has been identified as a certain Mohammed Ali, a native of Mulky in Mangalore taluk.

The value of confiscated logwood is estimated to be about Rs 5 lac.

The operation was carried at the instructions of Moodbidri assistant conservator of forests Kishore Kumar Shetty for forest officer G D Dinesh and foresters.
