Bantwal: Two persons who were unauthorisedly collecting toll at the now closed Panemangalore toll gate were apprehended by the Bantwal town police. The police who visited the place following a tip off on December 10, Tuesday morning, arrested the two namely Ravindra and Arafat, residents of Panemangalore Nehru Nagar. The operation was led by Bantwal Town SI Kabbal Raj.

It is nothing but an irony that the duo resorted to such an illegal act that too within days of the closure of the toll gate following the commencement of the Brhamarakootlu toll plaza.

Of the two, Ravindra was a worker at the Panemangalore toll gate. He had colluded with his friend Arafat and used to allegedly collect toll from lorry drivers and other motorists who passed that way during night time by issuing fake receipts. The two were arrested red handed.

It may be recalled here that the toll gate at Panemangalore was closed  following protests by the Bantwal unit of the BJP on December 5, opposing simultaneous toll collection  at two toll booths.
