Mangaluru: Indian Catholic Youth Movement(ICYM) under the aegis of CBCI Council for Youth and Youth Activ8 Foundation will be organizing a 5-day national level catholic youth conference ‘NYC 2017’ from January 18 to 22, 2017. The conference will be attended by delegates from all over India. The event will be the 10th edition of National Youth Conference held triennially.
This time the event is scheduled to be held at the beautiful landmark venue of St. Josephs Engineering College, Vamanjoor. ICYM Mangaluru Diocese which is celebrating its 70th year of existence will be the host for this event. The event will bring together over ten thousand youth along with Youth Directors and Animators from across 171 different dioceses of India. The convention is mainly focused on themes like Youth Empowerment, Socio-political Leadership, Media Advocacy and contribution to National Integrity.
This was announced at Bishop’s House in Mangaluru on September 3. Dr. Aloysuis D’Souza, Bishop of Mangaluru unveiled the prayer card during the event and hailed youth for their initiative to organize such a huge event in Mangaluru diocese. He invited the youth to take Mother Theresa as their role model and help the needy as she did.
I Care Builders MD Ashwin Periera, Diocesan Pastoral Parishad Secretary M. P. Noronha, ICYM Mangaluru Diocese Director Fr. Ronald D’Souza, President Jackson Eric, ICYM Udupi Diocese President Loyal D’Souza and organizing committee members were present. A brief ceremony was held in the honor of Mother Theresa who will be canonized on September 4 in Rome.
President Jackson Eric welcomed and Secretary Ancita D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Former President Alwyn Agrar compered the event.
