Mysuru: Pramodadevi Wodeyar said on Saturday that the royal family would approach court holding Mysuru City Corporation in contempt for refusing to obey the court orders and not issuing khatas even after eight weeks of the court’s deadline.
Addressing media persons at Mysuru Palace here on Saturday, Pramodadevi Wodeyar reacting to the incident where Mysuru Tahsildar stopped the ongoing cleaning work at Gareke Mala which is also known as Doddakere Maidan by royal family members here she said, “Government of India and the then Government of Mysuru has clearly mentioned that Garke mala property belongs to Maharaja of Mysore. In 1992 and 2002 MUDA claiming that it’s their property approached High Court and Supreme Court, but failed to establish ownership in both the cases. The Supreme Court has clearly mentioned that the owner of the property is Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar. After getting the orders, my husband approached the corporation for Khata, but they failed to provide one. Hence in 2013, in High Court, writ of mandamus was filed for issuance of Khata. The court gave its order in April 2016, stating that the corporation should give khata in 8 weeks’ time. We applied for Khata on May 3, but on September 1 we received reply from corporation demanding six more documents issuing Khata. Let the corporation give in writing that they cannot issue Khata as the property belongs to Government. We will give whatever documents we have, but if still the corporation refuses to give khata, with no other option, again we wil have to approach the court for justice.”
Pramodadevi also mentioned that Garke mala was not a lake but a parade ground. She also mentioned that though there was 14.25 acre land, income tax department auctioned 3 acre of land to JSS Institution.
We will file counter complaint
On Saturday, based on instruction from Deputy Commissioner, Tahsildar Ramesh Babu stopped the ongoing cleaning work undertaken by the royal family members at Garke Mala. “It’s our property, how can they stop the cleaning work. Tahsildar has no role to play. They have come to our place and created problems. Hence we will also file counter complaint in this regard,” said Pramodadevi.
Effect on Dasara
Pramodadevi who is disappointed with the ongoing developments when asked whether these incidents will have any adverse effect on Dasara said, “It all depends upon how they (government) cooperate”.
