Udupi: Shobha Karandlaje, Former state minister and BJP Lok sabha candidate for Udupi – Chikmagalur Lok Sabha Constituency launched her election campaign from Hejamady on Friday March 14.


“Indira Gandhi won the election from Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha Constituency because the district has large numbers of women voters””, said Shobha Karandlaje after inaugurating the BJP election office at Kaup.
Shobha said, “I prefer to protect the interests of womanhood, which is under a clutter in the present scenario, from the past few years we can see a drastic increase in the cases related to atrocities against women which has been ignored mercilessly.”
She suggested of having a fast track with regards to such cases with an aim to deliver justice to the women at the earliest.
“There are also many important issues which has been ignored by the leaders because it belongs to the poor fishermen and farmers. I am not new to this constituency, as an Energy minister, I was able to serve the people here up to the satisfaction level”, she stated
She alleged that the State and the Central government have been looting the country. Most of the schemes and development plans which are followed by the congress government are the initiatives of BJP. Congress is just trying to take credit of it, she added.
“The UPA government has failed in rendering to the administrative needs of the people; moreover Shobha Karandlaje spoke on the issues such as coastal security, fishermen and areca farmers, tribals eviction and other such concerns.
When questioned about the opponent from Congress Jayaprakash Hegde, Shobha assuring the gathering she said that there are several issues that have not been resolved in the Congress regime, thus if BJP comes to power the matters that are not being highlighted.”
BJP district president Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, former MLA Raghupati Bhat, Lalaji R Mendon, Udaykumar Shetty and others were present.
