I B.Com revised Kannada text book has a lesson on Harekala Hajabba

Mangalore: The life and works of a poor orange seller who could achieve a feat which not many educated may achieve, has  made it to the Kannada text book for first year B.Com of Mangalore University.

Harekala Hajabba who despite being illiterate could get a  high school sanctioned for the children of his village, is certainly a personality who can kindle hopes that there are still good men on this earth.

The lesson is an extract from the  Kannada work Harekala Hajabbara Jeevana Charitre by Ismat Pajeer.

The Academic Council of Mangalore University at a special meeting held on July 6, Saturday approved the revision of syllabus for Kannada and optional language subjects taught in first year under graduation courses.

Harekala Hajabba already features in the Kannada text book of Davangere and Shimoga universities.

Vice-Chancellor T.C. Shivashankara Murthy, Chief Editor of Kannada textbooks Dr Abhaykumar and Member Dr Sathyaranarayana Mallipattana, Registrar Dr Yadapadithaya, Registrar (Evaluation) Dr B Narayana, Finance Officer Dr Pakeerappa and others were present at the meeting.
