Mangalore : The District Administration has sought a sum of Rs 5 crores from the state under the Natural Calamity Relief Fund to redress the flood related problems that have cropped up in the district.

Informing this at a meeting held at the Netravathi Auditorium of the DK Zilla panchayat on July 6, Saturday, Deputy Commissioner N Prakash said the administration has already written a letter to the state government in this regard.
He also elaborated on the various measures taken by the administration to mitigate the hardships of people affected by the floods.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel presided over the function. Taking cognizance of the fact that during the floods there were problems due to non-availability of boats at some places to shift people to safer places, said the police department would put forth a proposal to purchase two boats at Rs 10 lakhs each.
Executive officers of various taluk panchayats gave information on the damages caused by floods.
Koragappa Naik, Zilla Panchayat President, Rithesh Shetty, Vice President and others were present on the occasion.
