Kasargod :A mother and her daughter died in a fire which ripped through their home on Sunday night February 16 near Cheemeni jail.

Laxmi (62), and Anitha (38) were found dead in the kitchen once firefighters fought their way inside the burning house. Locals informed the police after spotting smoke pouring from the house.

Both the bodies have been shifted to Pariyaram Medical College for post-mortem. Anitha is survived by her siblings Rajesh and Manjula.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation by Cheemeni police. They said on Monday that it could be possible suicide.
