Moodbidri : Thieves who broke into a house at Kandelbettu in Tenkamijar village on June 9, Monday night have stolen  jewels worth nearly Rs 3.5 lakhs.

Incidentally, the theft took place  when nine members of the family were fast asleep in the house. The robbery came to light  only in the morning  at around 6 am when the house owner Diwaker woke up to see the back doors broken.

Empty jewel boxes were founds scattered outside the house and he on suspicion checked the cupboard to find them missing.

The family members had kept the key in the cupboard itself proving a boon to the thieves.

Moodbidri police are conducting investigations.
