Mangalore : The body of a three year old girl, daughter of the warden of a hostel near Pumpwell has been found in a drain in the area on  Saturday May 3. The little girl who was playing near  another under construction drain in the area on May 2 was reported missing.

The girl Srinidhi was the daughter of Lokesh and Veda Poojary. The couple hails from Hassan. If Srinidhi stayed with her mother in Mangalore, her father was in Hassan.

Locals along with the child’s mother after a futile search for the child till late night on Friday had lodged a case of missing. The body of the child was found in the morning. Though one suspicion is that the girl might have drowned, in reality the drain where her body was found was not connected to the under construction drain near which she was playing on Friday.

Local Corporator Asha D’Silva as well as Legislator JR Lobo visited the spot and consoled the grieving family.

The body of the child has been taken to hospital for a post mortem and investigations are under progress.
