Mangalore : The District Congress SC and ST Cell staged a protest outside DC office here on Saturday May 3, against the alleged derogatory remarks made by Baba Ramdev   with regards to the Dalit community and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Protesters shouted slogans against yoga guru Baba Ramdev and demanded   his arrest.

Addressing the agitators, Congress leader Ivan D’Souza said, “Ramdev is a Yoga guru and he must concentrate on his work rather than making such comments on a national leader like  Rahul Gandhi.”

“Ramdev has indulged in dirty politics and has been exposed throughout the country for his anti-Dalit attitude,” said Ivan and added that  Ramdev’s statement showed his mentality and the disrespect he has towards women belonging to the Dalit communities. He also demanded the government to impose a ban on Baba Ramdev products across the country.

A criminal case has already been registered and we will see to it that Baba Ramdev  is arrested and jailed, added Ivan.

Congress leader P V Mohan called Ramdev a “Dhongi Sanyasi” and  charged Ramdev of being an agent of BJP. He described Ramdev as a mouth piece of Narendra Modi. “His words are not his own but that of Modi,” he said.

“Dalits are indigenous people of our society and the Congress party will never tolerate such kind of comments made against the community or the party head. In fact every community should stand against this”, Mohan added.

The protesting Congressmen also burnt an effigy of Baba Ramdev.
