Mangalore: State Home Minister KJ George visited the Bishop House in Mangalore on June 19, Wednesday morning and sought the blessings of Mangalore Bishop Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul DSouza.
The Home Minister was felicitated on the occasion by Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu. The Minister later interacted with several members of the community present at the Bishop House.
Referring to the church attacks of 2008, the Minister said he was aware that the interim report of the Justice Somasekhara Commission was in favour of the Christians, but not the final report. He assured to take up the matter at the ministerial level and come to some conclusion.
The Minister also touched upon the moral policing issue and said the police department has been given direction to initiate stern action against moral policemen. He also stated that there was no question of tolerating anyone taking law into hands.
On the controversy that sparked up recently following CM Siddaramaiahs statement that KJ George was made home minister to bring in a sense of security to Christians, he said he was a home minister for the entire state and not to any one community.
KJ George also stated that the Karnataka Government was in touch with the authorities at deluge hit Uttarakhand and would ensure the safety of the stranded Kannadigas including former minister Shobha Karandlaje.
MLA J R Lobo, senior Congress leader Ibrahim Kodijal, Corporator Naveen DSouza and others were present on the occasion.
