HJV activists protest in front of Suratkal police station

Suratkal: A protest was staged in front of the Suratkal police station by members of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike on February 23, Sunday to condemn the arrest of a a few local youth by the cops after raiding their houses at midnight, in connection with the assault on a youth of another community at a beach near Suratkal recently.

It may be mentioned here that the youth who was at the Mallamar beach with a young woman of another community was brutally thrashed by unidentified men. The police had detained a few youth in this connection.

The Vedike activists who participated in the protest alleged that innocents  were arrested  and demanded their release. They also said such arrests may disturb communal harmony.

Ramesh S, Mangalore North unit BJP President, Gunashekhar Shetty, Corporator, Sumithra Ganesh Hosabettu, Hindu Jagarana Vedike members Jayaram Achar, Vasudeva Gowda, Vasanth  Hosabettu, Rajesh Kottari and others participated in the protest.
