Mangalore: A Healthcare Equipment Expo was organized is in the city to create an awareness on the latest equipment in the health care field and also to expand the health care market.



Addressing the gathering Nitte University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr B Ramananda Shetty said, “From the last two-three decades, health care industry is growing like anything in India and the annual turnover of the industry would reach upto 116 billion by 2017.”
Pointing out that the country’s health care market was very small compared to the Indian marketing which is one among top 20 markets in the world, Prof Shetty said most institutions rely on MNCs for radiology and cancer treatment equipment despite the domestic industry being strong.
Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo said health expo can be held annually at the state level with the support of government and the medical institutions. Such a move will also help in promoting medical tourism, the MLA said.
Yenepoya University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr P Chandra Mohan was present among others.
