Udupi: A woman hailing from Shirva has alleged that a black magician has defrauded her and had extracted gold, cash and property worth several lakhs from her over the past few years.

At a press meet convened here, the family of Leela alleged that the black magician named Prasad  Kumar whom she was introduced to by a relative, had   somehow managed to make her believe that  bad omen was awaiting her.

It is learnt, the black magician in the beginning told her that there would be a death in her family making Leela worried as her husband  was also injured in an accident at that time.  Leela said she later invited the black magician to her house where he performed some rituals and extracted Rs 20,000 from her. When her husband died within the next few days, Leela’s worries knew no bounds and she believed the magician’s words.   The next time, the black magician managed to extract Rs 80,000 from Leela and also threatened her that  her two daughters and son would fall ill if she did not invite him regularly to their house.

It is said every time the black magician arrived, he performed some ritual and took away hefty cash and gold ornaments and once  even asked Leela to purchase 50 cents of land. Later when she paid cash for the same, he threatened her that she may have to face problems from IT department if she purchased 50 cents of land and got 20 cents of land registered in his name.

When some of  the relatives  of Leela came to know of her plight they approached the black magician who   had no fears but threatened the relatives of dire consequences.

Leela also said the black magician hypnotised and troubled her daughters  one of whom is a teacher and another a law student. She said one of her daughter even eloped to marry a painter unable to bear the trouble of the black magician.

The family also complained that the Shirva police with whom a complaint has been lodged were not initiating action reportedly owing to pressure from political forces.
