Mangalore: “With regards to the water crises in connection to the Yettinahole project which will be faced by 203 gram panchayats, 5 taluk panchayats and one zilla panchayats around the district an appeal letter was submitted to the high court by the Samiti which has been now duly accepted”, informed Former MLA Vijaykumar Shetty addressing a press meet under the aegis of Netravati Samrakshana Samiti.

Vijaykumar Shetty notified that the case has been registered in the High Court but if justice is not prevailed the Samiti would approach the Supreme Court, he added.

Addressing the media personals MJ Hegde also spoke on the occasion, he said, “A lot of uncertainty is created with regards to the Yettinahole project or the Netravati River Diversion project, recently former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda stated that he would initiate the project at any cost, thus even when the entire district was protesting on March 3, the foundation stone was laid for the project.”

“It is adversely unfavorable to see that for the sake of political benefits and egocentric interest DVS Gowda would go to any extent”, MJ Hegde alleged.

Dinikar Shetty also spoke during the press meet and encouraged the support from ‘All students Union’. He also stated that informational seminars on the effects of the Yettinahole project are being conducted in various colleges and there is an immense support from the students and youth from around the district which is commendable.

Concluding the meet, they said that although the appeal has been accepted, the date has not yet been announced by the court but the battle for justice will continue until the project is withdrawn.
