‘Harassment’ by hubby drives woman to suicide

Udupi:  A woman who was  agonised over the alleged harassment of her husband has committed suicide on February 18, Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Tahira, who was married to Mohammed Hanif, a resident of Janata Colony, Karamballi in Shivalli here.

Reportedly it is known that Tahira had gone missing last month and a missing complaint  was filed by her husband at Manipal police station. However, she had returned home on her own two days later.

It is learnt that she married Hanif 13 years ago and the couple had a 10-year-old son and a 11-year-old daughter.

Tahira’s mother and brother  have now filed a case at Manipal police station  alleging that Hanif was pressurising Tahira to get more money from her brothers who resided in Dubai and also that he had not been letting her visit her parental house for several years.

Manipal police are carrying out the investigation.
