Mangalore : A group of around 50 persons grievously attacked a person with sharp weapons and set ablaze a Nano car near Kumpala in Ullal on August 29, Thursday night at around 11.30 pm. The incident occurred when some people were returning in the car after the Mosaru Kudike celebrations in Tokkottu.

The victim named Vijayaprakash (32) has been rushed to a private hospital at Derlakatte. Sources said the group of assailants waylaid the car  in which the victim was travelling and set it afire after attacking.

Sources have also revealed that the assault on a child by one of the Veshadharis of  the Huli Vesha (tiger dance) team of Vijaya Prakash  that had competed in the Mosaru Kudike contest, was responsible for the attack.
