MS Mahabaleshwara Bhat new Chief GM of Karnataka Bank

Mangalore : MS Mahabaleshwara Bhat has been promoted as the Chief General Manager of Karnataka Bank, a premiere private sector bank of the nation headquartered in Mangalore.

A post graduate in Agricultural Sciences, Bhat  has over 29 years of experience in the banking field, both at operational and administrative levels. He is also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIB) and also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from St Aloysius College, Mangalore.

He started his career as Researcher & Teacher at University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore and later on joined Karnataka Bank as Agricultural Field Officer in 1984.  He has served the Credit Department of the Bank at its Head Office, Mangalore and later headed the Bank’s branches at  Banakal, Chickmagalur ADB (Agricultural Development Branch) and Bangalore Kasturba Road.

On his promotion as Chief Manager and later on as Assistant General Manager he served at Credit Department and Planning & Development Department of the Bank at its Head Office, Mangalore. Later on he moved to New Delhi Regional Office as Regional Head, wherein he played key role in expanding the foot print of Bank in Northern part of India by opening good number of branches. He also served as Regional Head of Mumbai Region before being elevated to the Post of General Manager in 2011.

Bhat has vast experience in administration of ‘Agri & Rural Credit’, Retail, MSME and corporate finance, Forex business, Corporate Planning & Development, Business Process Reengineering (BPR), New Products Development, Bancassurance Business, Alternate Delivery Channels (ADCs) etc.
