Govt to construct houses for poor fishermen : Kerala CM

Kasargod : Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has informed that  the government would be constructed 7500 houses for  fishermen in the state.

He was speaking after laying the foundation for a new fisheries port at Manjeshwar Hosabettu Kadappura on February 21, Friday.  Chandy said as many as 500 fishermen from Kasargod district would benefit from the scheme which would be implemented by availing loans from HUDCO.

The CM also assured that the fisheries port works would be  completed by the next three years. He said the Chervattur port will be inaugurated during the next financial year.

He said works on a total of 24 ports in the state were underway and also informed about the government plans to provide  clean drinking water to fishermen in coastal areas.

KC Joseph, Rural Development Minister, P Karunakeran, MP, CT Ahmed Ali, SIDCO President,   PB Abdul Razak, MLA of Manjeshwar and others were present at the function .
