Newskarnataka – Bantwal

Bantwal: Progressive farmer Rajesh Naik Ulippadiguttu who owns the Ganjimutt Oddur Farms  has alleged that the coconut growers  were subject to great hardships owing to the apathy of the state government to commence a Neera unit at Tumbay in Bantwal Taluk. He has pointed out that the previous BJP government has allotted grants for the project in its budget for the same. However, the present government has not evinced any interest in the project, he alleged.

He was participating in an interactive programme with coconut growers held at the Horticulture Department office premises at BC Road on February 14, Friday under the aegis of the Coconut  Plantation Development Board, Bangalore and DK District unit of Hasiru Sene.

He pointed out that coconut growers in nearby Kerala state were much benefitting from Neera units. But the inaction of the government has left the equipment  in a sorry state. He said mere holding such programmes were of no use unless the farmers were sufficiently educated on various aspects.
