Govt amenities must reach Koraga tribals : Udupi MLA

Udupi : The ignorance on the part of the members of the Koraga community was coming in the way of making the best use of the various facilities provided by the government, said Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA of Udupi.

Participating at a special meeting on ‘Solutions Through Discussions’ organized by the Koraga Taluk Samithi, Udupi, and Koragabhivridhi Sanghatanegala Okkoota, Karnataka – Kerala at the taluk office on October 15, Tuesday, he said  the authorities will themselves go to the Koraga community members if they cannot come forward benefit from various programmes.

The meeting also deliberated on the fact that the population of the community was on the decline due to lack of basic amenities and malnutrition. It was informed that there were 1666 Koraga community families having a total of 6200 members.

Dr P V Bhandary, Director, AV. Baliga Charitable Trust, and Bogra Koraga were felicitated  on the occasion in recognition of their services to the society.

Uday Kumar Shetty, ITDP officer, Guruprasad, Tahsildar, Shashikala Koraga, President, Samagra Gramin Ashrama, Gowri Poojarthi, Taluk Panchayat President,Veronica Carnelio, Taluk Panchayat Member   and others were present on the occasion.
