Gold bars worth Rs 54.2 lakhs seized at MIA

Mangalore: The officers of Customs at Mangalore International Airport seized two gold bars worth Rs 54.2 lakh on Tuesday June 3. The gold bars totally weighing 2 kg, were found concealed inside theshoes of a passenger hailing from Kasargod.

The passenger identified as Ibrahim Khaleel Kunil  arrived at the airport on June 3 at around 10 pm by Air India Express flight IX 384 from Dubai.

Ibrahim was arrested and produced before N S Patil, Principal Civil Judge, Senior Division and Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mangalore. As per the orders, he will be kept in judicial custody till June 17.

The operations were conducted under the supervision of Pravin Vinod,Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport.
