Mangalore: The Mogaveera fishing community in Ullal and Mogaveerpatna held a protest with a demand to arrest the accused in senior Congress leader Gangadhar Pangala  murder case.

They held a protest rally from Ambedkar Circle on Friday June 6, which culminated near  Deputy Commissioner’s office. The protestors demanded the  arrest of the prime accused  Satish Baikampady  immediately.

Addressing the protestors, Yashwant P Mendon, President of Mogaveera Yelu Pattana Samyuktha Sabha, Boloor, alleged that Gangadhar Pangala case is not merely an accident or a hit-and-run case but it is a plotted murder.

The police have arrested three accused Harish Baikampady, Bhaskar Baikampady and Pushparaj, but they have still not arrested the main accused Satish Baikampady in the murder case. He said that Satish has been evading the police for long time now and the police must take some action.

It may be recalled that former president of Mogaveera Mahasabha Gangadhar Pangala was killed on May 15 while he was returning from Muloor on his two-wheeler when an unidentified vehicle hit him at Baikampady and sped away.

His family raised doubts about the cause of death and urged for an investigation.

Mogaveera leader – Sadananda Bangera, advocates Dayanath Kotian, Gangadhar H and several other leaders of the fishing community including Vasudev Salian, Rajiv Kanchan, deputy mayor Kavitha and others participated in the protest rally.

A memorandum was submitted to the home minister through the DC at the end of the protest.
