Mangalore: The fourth district and sessions court today sentenced life-time imprisonment for the two men convicted of raping a minor girl from Odisha.
The honorable Judge BK Naik referring to the previous verdicts of the Supreme court pronounced the verdict at 1 PM that the two men K Ashok (24) of Kadeshwalya of Bantwal and Nitish (20) of Attavar sentenced the life time imprisonment for the duo and along with the imprisonment a fine of Rs. 25,000 also have to be paid.
A total of 27 witnesses had deposed before the court.
The 15 year old girl from Somalpur, Odisha who worked as a domestic help in a house in Mangalore, was feeling homesick and had escaped from her employer’s house when the latter had been to church. She had come to the Mangalore central railway station where the four men on the pretext of guiding her to the train, pushed her inside the bogie of a stationed train and then raped her.
Police are still on the lookout for Shameesha of Payyanur said to be the main accused in the case. According to the police four persons were involved in the gang rape.
