Bantwal :  A youth was brutally assaulted by a gang of six  over a previous enmity at Meginapete in Vittal on Monday May 12. It is learnt, the gang even pushed aside and injured the youth’s mother who tried to prevent them.
Those injured are Chappa alias Sarfaraz (20) of Meginapete and his mother Jubaida. It is learnt, on Monday Sarfaraz  who is undergoing mobile technician course in Mangalore, was at his father Hasannafi’s  fish sale shop at Meginapete as the latter was ill. At around 5 pm, a  group of six including Okkettur Sadiq alias Blade Sadiq (30) arrived by a  Maruti 800 car  and inflicted grievous injuries on Sarfaraz with a wooden club  and  machete, Even Jubaida who rushed to the spot to rescue her son was pushed aside, Sarfaraz  has said in his complaint to the Vittal police.

A case has been registered against Sadiq, Latif, Rasheed, Naufal, Siraj and Harshad in Vital police station.

It is said a clash that broke out during a  cricket match between Okkettur and Meginapete teams a few months ago, had resulted in an enmity  eventually culminating in the  attack. Sarfaraz’s father had lodged a complaint against 15 persons in connection with this case.
