Mangaluru: Mangalore Chest Association will observe World Asthma Day on May 3, at A J Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Kuntikana and Yenepoya Medical college, Derlakatte.
As a part of the event, free medical camps will be held in both the hospitals. Camp will be held at A J Institute from May 3 to 10 from 8.30 am to 1 pm while camp will be held in Yenepoya Medical College from May 2 to 7 from 9 am to 1 pm.

Addressing a news conference Association Secretary Dr Alka C Bhat said that Asthma is a common disease and about 300 million people are affected by the same worldwide. Startling fact is that about 2,50,000 deaths are annually attributed to asthma and it also happens to be one of the most common diseases affecting children.

World Asthma day is a global event organized worldwide every year on 1st Tuesday in  the month of May to create awareness, care and support for the patient suffering from asthma, she said adding that it is held to create awareness about the disease and also treatment available for the same.

The Association has urged people in general to avail the benefits of the programme, consult the doctors and take proper medications for Asthma.
