Chitradurga: A gruesome accident between a Cruiser and a KSRTC bus near Chitradurga Heggere Gate claimed nine lives.

Eight of the nine deceased are said to be students.

It is said that 12 female students, all natives of Bellari had been in to Bengaluru for an interview in a hired Cruiser. The mishap took place during wee hours of Saturday when the cruiser was plying back to Bellari from Bengaluru and the KSRTC bus was plying towards Bengaluru.

The driver of the cruiser identified as Chandregowda and eight female students travelling in the vehicle died. While one of the students reportedly died in the hospital, the rest died on the spot.

It is said that the KSRTC bus was over speeding due to which a sleepy Chandregowda could not control the vehicle when the bus rammed into the cruiser.

The injured are being treated at Davangere and Chitradurga hospitals.
