Kasargod: A four day old baby was abandoned by its mother here at the Kasaragod general hospital here on Wednesday it is learnt.

The girl baby weighing 2.25kg is safe under the care of hospital staff.

At 8pm, one man along with two women arrived in a car and kept the baby on the ‘Amma Thottilu’ and left. The security guard had noticed the car parked outside the hospital. The nurses rushed to the spot when the alarm of ‘Amma Thottilu’ rang and found the girl baby.

The Amma Thottilu was started four years back to stop abandoning new born kids on roadsides and dustbins and till now four babies have been abandoned in this ‘Amma Thottilu’.
