Moodbidri : A coconut grove was gutted in a fire  that broke out after an electric cable passing through the plantation at Gandhinagar in the TMC limits, got snapped and the live wire fell into the ground on Wednesday May 28.

The coconut grove belonged to Bhasker Kotian. It is learnt, the electric cables  were torching the coconut fronds. On  Wednesday afternoon, one of the cables landed on the ground  resulting in the fire. Over 30 coconut trees were destroyed in the fire. The MESCOM personnel and fire service men from Moodbidri rushed to the spot and put out the fire before it spread to nearby houses and a hostel.
