21 Karnataka Battalion NCC Udupi celebrates Golden Jubilee

Udupi : The 21 Karnataka Battalion NCC Udupi celebrated its Golden Jubilee on 28 May 2014 at Ravindra Kala Mantapa, MGM College.

Col SR Sriram, Group Commander Mangalore Group inaugurated the programme by hoisting the NCC flag. Col Basavaraj, S Ghivari, Camp Officer along with the 1600 cadets undergoing training in this Battalion celebrated by cutting a cake.

Dr Hala Naik, Principal of MGM College, was the Chief Guest and released a souvenir on this memorable occasion.

The NCC curriculum includes military subjects like weapons training, firing and other sports. The curriculum imparts unity, discipline and leadership qualities in the cadets.

The earlier Mangalore Independent Company NCC was reorganized as 29 Karnataka Battalion NCC and started functioning at Udupi w.e.f 01 Jun 1964.

In 1978, 29 Karnataka Battalion NCC was re-designated and reorganized into 21 Karnataka Battalion NCC.
