Mangalore: A   fire broke out at Hampankatta branch of Syndicate Bank on Monday January 13 night at  around 8.30

The cause is assumed to be due to a short circuit, which happened because of a spark that came out from the A/C. Moreover, the electric wires and meter are put up together in a congested way  resulting in the spread of the fire.

Two fire engines from Pandeshwar rushed to the spot. The firemen had to break open the windows to reach inside the rooms that were affected by the fire. Under the leadership of district fire officer B Shivappa Gowda, the area was cleared out but due to immense smoke it became difficult for the officers.

The fire was brought under control after a lot of endeavour and subsequently the smoke reduced. There were no casualties but the extent of loss is yet to be estimated.
