Mangalore: The inmates at the District Jail allegedly assaulted an under trail on Tuesday June 17.

The victim has been identified as Shailesh, an under trial hailing from Beltangady. It is alleged that when the inmates were standing in queue for breakfast, few of them got into an argument with Shailesh. The quarrel turned into a fight and a  gang of prisoners thrashed Shailesh. He was rushed to Wenlock hospital and  was treated for his injuries.

It is said that Shailesh had a fight with a person who is an aide of underworld element Vicky Shetty.

Barke police who rushed to the spot, brought the situation under control.
