Chikkaballapura : Chikkaballapura District Congress President M Anjinappa has dubbed former union minister Veerappa Moily as a big liar.“People of Mangalore are well aware of his ploy to cheat them through false assurances. Now, even people of Chikkaballapura are realising this,” he said.

Speaking to media men on Monday June 16, he said “ Though I never expected any position in the party, Moily himself kindled a desire in me every time. During the previous assembly elections, he promised a ticket but did not keep up his promise. When Moily contested the Lok Sabha elections, he visited my house seeking support with a promise to give me membership of Legislative Counil in June. He did not keep up even this word. If we were aware earlier that he was a big liar, then we would not have strived for his win. We would have seen to it that he was defeated and was back in Mangalore,” he said.
Anjinappa further said Moily had promised Deputy Speaker Shivashankera Reddy of a ministerial berth after elections. “If Moily sees that Reddy gets a cabinet berth then I will either hang myself or slit my throat,” Anjnappa warned and said he was quitting his district Congress Presidentship fed up with Moily’s attitude.
“Reliance ensured a ticket for Moily”: Further, Anjinappa said it was not the party high command but the pressure from Anil Ambani of Reliance that ensured a ticket for Moily whose name was not in the first list of candidates. He said Ambani had visited Sonia’s residence to ensure a ticket for Moily and said “I am a witness to this.” Anjinappa said Moily was given the petroleum portfolio in the erstwhile government as the previous minister Jaipal Reddy refused to sign some files.
“Moily thus cleared several files in haste to benefit oil companies and incurred crores of rupees of losses to the nation,” he alleged.
He said he will appeal to the Prime Minister to order a CBI probe into the irregularities resorted to by Moily. He said he was gathering documents to substantiate his claims and added he would expose them in the days to come. He also declared that he would move the Supreme Court and send Moily to ‘Sri Krishna’s birth place.’
