Bantwal: While participating in the Bantwal TMC meet held on Monday June 16, Opposition leader Govind Prabhu made a serious allegation that the Councillors were not taken into confidence by the administration regarding various issues.

The allegation led to a heated debate when Prabhu said it would be better for the councillors to quit rather than remaining neglected. He also alleged that the councillors were even kept in the dark regarding a meeting convened under the leadership of TMC President to discuss the traffic problems of the town.
Though Vasanthi Chandappa, TMC Chairperson tried to give a clarification that the meet to discuss traffic woes was not convened by her and that she came to know about it from the police in the last minute, the answer did not satisfy the members.
Councillor Vasu Poojari demanded title deeds to those people who have constructed houses in Barekadu area. Some other members suggested that the title deeds be issued after a thorough scrutiny as there are chances of some of the inhabitants selling off the property for lakhs once they get its ownership.
Waste treatment plant issue hots up: Even the issue of the Kanchinadka waste treatment plant which is not yet complete despite allocation of funds, came up for discussion. Ruling party councillors Mohammad Nandarabettu and Sadashiva Bangera took the TMC chief to task. The silence of Vasanthi Chandappa agitated them and finally in-charge Chief Officer Mattadi said all works would be complete and the unit will start functioning from June 30.
The meeting though deliberated upon various issues, failed to come to a conclusion on any aspect. Vice President Yasmin and other officials were present.
