Farmers will be taken into confidence before implementing Kasturirangan report: Sorake

Udupi: “The Kasturirangan report will come to effect for sure. Government has formed cabinet sub-committee which will see to the consequences of  Kasturi Rangan report.However, before the implementation of the report, a discussion will be made with the public though Gram Sabhas in Gram Panchayaths”, said  Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake during a meeting called by Udupi District Farmers Association on Saturday February 8.

The meeting was called by Udupi District Farmers Association to find out the after- effects of the Kasturi Rangan report in Hebri Zone. Farmers  unanimously condemned the recommendations of Kasturirangan report and termed it totally unscientific.

Farmers opinion :-

Shridhar Shetty stated that the Kasturirangan report was prepared without considering the public opinion and has given no importance to the farmers.

Rathnakar Poojary Varanga  said though Hebri is 15 km away from the Western Ghat,  the Kasturirangan report included Hebri in Western Ghats.

Mattapadi Sathish  Shetty  said political leaders should do maximum to protect the concerns of the people of 35 villagers, if not a large protest will be held soon

Deputy Commissioner Dr MT Reju also spoke on the occasion.
