Bantwal A farmer died of electrocution while removing the bore well pipes  in a plantation at Bollecharu near Kudtamugeru in Vittalpadnur village on February 18, Tuesday night.

The deceased is Srinivas Shettigar (45). He along with three others was  engaged in the task of removing the pipes from the bore well in the plantation of Srinivas Acharya on  Tuesday night. It is learnt an electric line which was passing above, came into contact with an iron pipe,  electrocuting three of them. However Srinivas Shettigar  died on the spot while the others escaped the jaws of death.

Eyewitnesses said they had removed six pipes earlier and the mishap took place when they pulled out the seventh pipe. Vittal police have visited the place and have registered case.

The deceased is survived by his wife, a four year old child and two brothers.
