Udupi: “The Government is amending the land reform policy to assist the corporate world”, said the Karnataka Prantha Krishi Koolikarara Sangha President Nityananda Swami  while addressing a protest held on Monday February 3.

Speaking at  the huge rally that was followed by a 24 hours indefinite hunger strike organized here at Bannanje, Swami said that by deceiving the poor farmers, the government is attempting to attract the investors.

He added that the government should take immediate measures to provide shelters to homeless farmers. Land Reform Act should be amended if it is necessary. The barren land should be used for housing sites. Swami urged the government to come forward to support the livelihood of poor farmers and reveal its pro-farmer stance.

Taluk Secretary of the Sangha Dogu Suvarna  also spoke on the occasion. A memorandum was forwarded to the CM through Tahsildar.
