Udupi: The Udupi City Municipal Council  has created artificial water scarcity in the  city despite  there being sufficient water in Baje dam, alleged former Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat on March 13, Thursday.

Bhat said so during a spot inspection of Shirur and Baje dams organized by the Udupi BJP fact-finding committee. He further said the CMC which is presently supplying water in the city limits every alternate day was only trying to make people believe that the Swarna Second Phase water supply project was a failure.

 The CMC has adopted such tactics just to portray that the Swarna Second Phase is incapable to supply proper water though there is  enough water in Baje dam to supply water daily until May. 

Amrita Krishnamurthy, municipality vice-president, Selina Karkada, Vijay Manchi and Ramesh Kanchan were present.
