Mangalore : State Health Minister UT Khader, on Tuesday June 10 has handed over agreement letters to the representatives of seven private hospitals of the district who have entered into an agreement with the government to provide treatment for Endosulfan patients.





Speaking on the occasion, Khader said the government intends to enter into an agreement with 18 hospitals and in the first phase has signed agreement with KMC, AJ Hospital, Srinivas Hospital, KSHEMA, Fr Muller, Yenepoya Hospital and Omega Hospital.
He said the government has several schemes for the welfare of the Endosulfan affected people and the agreement has been signed as a first step. The patients can avail treatment at the day care centres if possible and also can avail government ambulance facility to reach the hospitals, he said.
The Minister also informed that mental rehabilitation centres will be set up in every district for the benefit of mental patients. Three such centres have been opened in three districts of the state and in DK it has come up at KS Hegde Hospital at Derlakatte. The hospitals have been directed to reserve 20 beds for mental patients. He said and informed that free treatment will be provided. The government would be spending Rs 1.6 lakh on every such centre, he said.
