Elaborate security arrangements for Paryaya

Udupi: The District Police Department has made elaborate security arrangements for the forthcoming Paryaya Mohatsav of Kaniyur Math Seer Sri Vidyavallabhatheertha Swamiji on January 17 and 18.

A press communiqué from the Department said as many as five deputy superintendents of police, 16 circle police inspectors, two Reserve Police Inspectors, 60 sub-inspectors, 100 assistant sub-inspectors, 600 head constables/police constables, 300 home guards, four platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), and three parties of District Armed Reserve Police are deployed for the security in and around the temple town.

A separate traffic system will be allocated under which there will be 14 locations for parking vehicles. Six different check posts would be set up in places around the city. These check posts would work round-the-clock.

A police outpost has been set up at Car Street for security and to help the pilgrims, the release added.

It is also know that the district administration has put a ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages, the Deputy Commissioner MT Reju stated that the ban would be applicable in Udupi City Municipal Council limits, Ambalpady, Kadekar, Malpe, Santhekatte, Udyavar and Katapady.

The ban will be in force from 6 am from Friday to 6 pm on Saturday at all wine shops, hotels, non-proprietary clubs, star hotels and clubs.
