Udupi: The Election Commission has issued a notice to Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, based on a letter of complaint written by Shubada Rao, member of Karkala municipal council dated November 11, 2013 accusing the MLA of violating the election code of conduct.

The complaint stated that V Sunil Kumar had printed handbills for the elections for Legislative Assembly held in May 2013 with pictures of Karkala Bhagwan Bahubali, St Lawrence Church, Attur, Karkal, Koti Chennaya and other deities, thereby contravening the election  code of conduct.

Shubhada Rao said that people’s belief in God should be in their heart and not in the handbills. He also alleged  that BJP’s has always tried to politicize votes for religion.

Stating that the Election Commission has  considered his complain, Rao has hoped action may be initiated with regard to the same.
