Kasargod : Kasargod Town Police have arrested two persons on the charges of stoning a lorry on the National Highway near the Kallangai Chandragiri Guest House two months ago.

Those arrested are Mohammad Ansar (25) of Eriyal  and Abdul Latif (22) of Azadnagar. They had stoned a fish laden lorry heading towards Mangalore. Both who were in a bike had later fled the place.

The police arrested the two after the  bail plea  submitted by them in the High Court was turned down.

Here it may be recalled that several  KSRTC buses of both Karnataka and Kerala were  stoned on the Eriyal-Mogral route since the past few months. In most cases,  the assailants used to come by bikes and flee after stoning the vehicles. Several bus crew and passengers were injured in the stoning  and the KSRTC too had incurred losses to the tune of lakhs of rupees. Following the stoning incidents, police escort was also providing to KSRTC buses operating during night time.
