Mangalore:An explosive information that the dreaded terrorist and Indian Mujahideen Co-Founder Yasin Bhatkal who was arrested recently, was in hiding in Mangalore along with his accomplices for about a week, has come to light of late. Sources have revealed that the National Investigation Agency officials have traced the Mangalore hideout of the ultras.
Though recently there was information that Yasin Bhatkal was brought to Mangalore, police sources have now confirmed that it was Yasin’s confidante Asadulla Haddi who was brought to Mangalore on September 6 by a special aircraft. On the basis of the latter’s statement, the NIA team had visited several places of the district including the money transfer firm from where the ultras had received cash supplied from Pakistan.
Haddi is learnt to have shown the NIA team the places where he and Yasin had stayed and had been while in Mangalore.
Sources also revealed that there is information that Yasin had stayed even in a lodge in Udupi where an accomplice of him used to meet him frequently. It has already been reported that it was from the coastal districts that Yasin had purchased Ammonium Nitrate used for the blasts at Pune. The NIA investigation has ascertained this.
It has now been gathered that Yasin had been to Haleyangady, Ullal, Chembugudde and Mukkacheri along with Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Bhatkal and Naushad. It is learnt, Yasin intended to include youth from the district in Indian Mujahideen. Sources said the NIA was gathering vital information regarding some people from here who might have assisted the transportation of explosives by train from coastal districts.
