Kasargod : The Kasargod police have busted the mystery behind the case of the mysterious missing of a young housewife   from Chenganachery four years ago.  The  arrest of the husband of the missing woman has brought to light the startling fact that  the husband himself had killed his wife  by pushing her to a gorge.

The ill-fated woman who lost her life at the hands of her husband is Anjali (30). Police have arrested her husband Pradeep Kumar (43) in  connection with the murder.

The incident had taken place on the night of October 27, 2009  following which Pradeep had lodged a complaint with the Chengavana police stating that Anjali was missing. A few days later he had flown to the Gulf and had returned a year later and since then was leading a luxurious life with two wives separately.

Meanwhile, the police had almost dropped investigation into the case as they could not trace Anjali. However, there was a new twist when the SP received an anonymous letter on September 6. Following this the police summoned Pradeep Kumar and interrogated him when the  murder came to light. Police said Pradeep who initially made contradictory statements, later admitted his guilt.

Pradeep, a Gulf employee had married Anjali who hailed from Chengacheri and worked as  a nurse in the Gulf in 2006 despite opposition from her family. After marriage both left for Gulf. Meanwhile, Pradeep was suspended from job  in a  financial bungling case forcing him to return hometown. A month later Anjali too joined her husband.

In February 2009, Anjali had sustained serious injuries when the bike in which she and Pradeep were riding met with an accident. She had to be hospitalized for 51 days at Tiruvalla following this. Though on October 28, Pradeep lodged a complaint with the police that his wife is missing,  he had in fact take her  out on the pretext of going to hospital on October 27, gave her juice mixed with sleeping tablets and  then  pushed her  into a 1000 feet deep gorge in an isolated area at Vagaman.

In fact Pradeep had married a woman of Mallapalli on June 16,2009 even when Anjali was alive and the two later began to  live in a rented house. It is learnt, he had made his second wife believe that Anjali had committed suicide.

Meanwhile on December 31,2010 he had married a  young woman of Chenganacheri who worked as a nurse in the Gulf. Whenever the woman left for   Gulf on job, he used to stay with his second wife in a rented house.  Police said even his second wife had returned to her parental home a few months ago unable to bear his harassment. Pradeep was cleverly managing both his second and third wives without giving any hint that he had killed his first wife.

However, the anonymous letter helped the cops trap the culprit who is now cooling his heels behind the bars.
