DK Auto Rickshaw Drivers Association stage a protest

Mangalore: The Dakshina Kannada Auto Rickshaw Drivers Association staged a protest in front of DC office claiming various demands and putting forth their turmoil on various issues, on Thursday November 21.

The association questioned the district administration and the Regional Transport Department on diverse grounds, from opposing the display card system implemented by the department, to injustice with the leaders of the association.

Addressing the agitators, Sudatta Jain of Akhila Bharata Karmika Sangha said, “DK Auto Rickshaw drivers association have been established several years back and has solved various problems of auto drivers without making societal issue.”

“In such situation some self elected leaders have planned to introduce the display card system from January 1, 2014, which will give the full details of the drivers pasted behind the driver’s seat”’ he added.

He also said that such kind of system will split the association and will also lead several problems to the drivers; hence the association will strictly oppose the display card system. Moreover monetary difficulties and development issues were also addressed in the protest.

Dalit leader Hemanth, social worker Bhaskar Salian, Former corporator Vinay chandram Rama Mugarodi, Suresh Shetty, Ramesh Kotian, Chandappa Bajpe and others were present.
